All of our 1-1 befriending services help reduce loneliness and isolation; increase confidence and self esteem and create a greater sense of belonging in local communities for our Friends (people experiencing mental ill health or memory difficulties) and Carers.

All services offer 1-1 confidential social contact between a trained Volunteer and their Friend.

Our friendships focus on the mental health Recovery way of thinking using the Refocus model, which helps supports Friends  to build confidence and to take control of their life by meeting life goals they have set themselves, with support and coaching with coordinators.  Using this method enables coordinators and volunteers to support their Friends to use befriending to achieve their life goals and to live as well as possible.

Services are available across the whole Highland Region and Argyll and Bute for people aged 18+ who have experience of mental ill health.

People can choose either Face to Face meetings (Inverness, Nairn and Wick only) or Telephone; Letter or Email befriending, whichever best suits their needs.

These services are available for people living in Highland or Argyll and Bute.

For people who have dementia or memory difficulties we offer Face to Face befriending (Inverness only - Pilot project) or Telephone Befriending across the wider region.

For adult carers we offer telephone, letter or email befriending.
