We're In Stitches Highland (WISH) Group
The new Distance Group Project was launched in June 2009 and successfully continues to attract new members. This brand new pilot project was a first for Distance Befriending and has successfully brought together Friends and Volunteers to share together their joint interests.
The WISH group was the brainchild of Katherine - our volunteer expert 'stitcher' and subsequent editor - and our very own and definitely non-expert stitcher, Yvonne. It was established to provide a forum for group communication that would be open to both Friends and Volunteers, operate at a distance and unite people who had a similar interest, in this case, any form of needlework including cross stitch, embroidery, quilting, knitting and crochet.
The group communicate through means of their very own Newsletter which contains articles of interest, advice, tips, sharing of experiences, letters, poems, competitions and more.
The group has continued to grow and is proving very successful in getting members to share ideas and experiences, try new 'stitching' ideas and experiments and generally enjoy being part of a group of like minded people but in a non threatening way.
Some of the WISH members met for the first time in 2010. A fascinating day was had by all and in between demonstrations and practice in Spinning and Felting, the members had plenty of time to chat and decide on new ways ahead for the group.
