Carer Service

Our carer service is available for people aged 18+ who live in the Highland region and are a Carer. 

If you are aged over 18 and look after a relative, friend or neighbour who couldn’t manage without your support, then you are defined as a carer.

Befrienders Highland offers Distance Befriending for our Carer service users.  This means that Befriending will be provided via Telephone, Letter or Email.

Eligibility

We can accept individuals who are:

  • aged 18 or over.
  • living within the Highland region. (You can be caring for someone outwith Highland region, or someone who is in a Care Home)
  • A Carer

Types of befriending

We offer Distance Befriending (Telephone, Letter, or Email) to individuals wishing to use our Carer service.

Who can make a referral?

  • GP's, mental health workers, social work services, hospital professionals, memory clinics, or voluntary organisations can all make referrals.
  • You can refer yourself.
  • Family members can refer.

How is a referral made?

Referrals: If you would like to refer someone, please download, and complete the referral form below, returning it to us via email or post, ensuring that the form is signed and dated by the individual being referred.

Self-referrals: If you would like to refer yourself, please download and complete the referral form below, returning it to us via email or post, ensuring that the form is signed and dated.

Unfortunately, most of our services have reached full capacity, which means we are unable to accept any applications or referrals for anywhere other than Sutherland. For all other areas, please check back here again in September.
