Welcome to Befrienders Highland

We are a small voluntary organisation working to improve the lives of people who are lonely and isolated and have experience of mental ill health; memory difficulties or dementia and carers .

We work across the Highland and Argyll and Bute Regions of Scotland.

Our befriending services have helped improve the confidence, wellbeing and social belonging of hundreds of people in our communities.  We offer befriending using the Recovery approach: "Refocus".

Over 700 trained and supported volunteers have provided confidential 1-1 and Group befriending in a variety of ways to best suit individuals.

Face to Face befriending in Inverness, Nairn or Wick areas for people with mental ill health.

Distance Befriending by phone, letter or email across the Highlands & Argyll and Bute regions for people with mental ill health, for people with dementia or memory difficulties or who are adult unpaid carers.

Group Befriending - we offer a range of group befriending opportunities available to all Friends and Volunteers. We currently have Walk and Talk groups, A gardening Group, a Cinema and discussion group.  We also have groups that do not meet but communicate through BHL magazines, a Craft group and a Creative Writing group.
